Selecting A Proper Topic For A Quantitative Research Paper

A quantitative research paper is used to qualify a problem by generating numerical data. It is also common to use generate data that can be transformed into usable statistics. The most important thing is that quantitative essays are used to qualify ideas. They can be used to qualify attitudes, opinions and behaviors or other defined variables. The main difference between qualitative and quantitative research papers is that qualitative researches are mainly exploratory. They are used to gain an understanding of underlying opinions and motivations. So, essentially, qualitative researches are used to develop hypothesis upon which quantitative researches are based.

The process of selecting a topic for a quantitative research papers is no different from that of selecting any other essay paper. Here are a few tips to keep in mind;

  1. Select something that interests you
  2. You can only write on a topic in which you have interest. If you’re not interested in a topic, you will not be able to fully concentrate on it. Even finding points may become a big problem. So, choose a topic that you feel comfortable with.

  3. Narrow down the topic
  4. It is very important to narrow down your topic. When the topic is too wide, you may not be able to cover every aspect of it comprehensively. You can actually use your interests to narrow down your topic. For instance, if you’re a feminist, find a way of discussing females in the given story.

  5. Find an interesting angle to approach the topic
  6. Your approach of a topic can ultimately determine whether people like your content or not. You don’t always have to like the topic. If you have issues with how the story flows, don’t fear showing your opinions. In any case, quantitative essays allow you to engage in surveys, polls, and all other forms of data collection to validate your points.

  7. Research thoroughly
  8. Once you have a rough idea of what you want to write about, go online and conduct a thorough research. It is possible that you stumble upon even better topic ideas in the process. Or, you could discover a better angle to approach the topic.

  9. Ask your teacher for ideas
  10. If possible, go to your teacher and ask if they can give you a few topic ideas. You can also ask for ideas from your friends and colleagues.

  11. Reuse a topic
  12. If all the above don’t work, you can always reuse a topic. Think about topics that you have used in the past or those that you’ve come across before and brainstorm on how you could repurpose them.
